(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced this afternoon that a pair of Rivier University Men's Volleyball student-athletes have been selected as the Conference's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, presented by Corvias Campus Living.
Senior Ian Wolski (Westfield, Mass.) was tabbed the GNAC/Corvias Offensvie Player of the Week after registering 4.80 kills per set on a .524 hitting percentage to help Rivier to a pair of conference wins in a perfect 3-0 week. The veteran outside hitter had 12 kills in both straight set wins against Emerson College and Emmanuel College. He also averaged 0.40 aces, 0.40 digs and 0.90 blocks per set on the week. This is the first time this season that Wolski has been named the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Junior Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) was once again named the GNAC/Corvais Defensive Player of Week as he laid the foundation for the Raider defense in the three conference win week. The third year libero, who played in two of the three Raider matches, scooped up 24 digs in just six sets for a 4.0 digs per set average. Bucklin recorded 12 digs in both straight set wins over Emerson and Emmanuel. This is the sixth time in nine weeks that Bucklin has been named the conference's defensive player of the week.
