(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Raiders surfed into the second day of competition with 2 wins under their draw strings. This energy carried them through this mid-afternoon match up as the Raiders earned their third win in row by sweeping the Banana Slugs of UC Santa Ana, 3-0.
The scores of each set were 25-14. 25-22 and 25-20.
The "Giant Sequoia trees of the east" Francis Kokoros (Braintree, Mass) and Khaynen Yocca (Pittsburgh, Pa) a collective height of over 13' provided the Raiders with some shade earning 3 blocks between the two. The two Red Woods dominatated the attack as Kokoros earned 12 kills and Yocca earned 6 kills on 13 attack attempts.
It was David Smith (Clinton, Oh) who led the Raiders in points for the match. Tallying 11 kills, 3 digs and 4 blocks for a total of 14.5 points. Proving exactly why he has earned Offensive Player of the Week for the GNAC, twice.
Next up for the Raiders are the hosts, the Kingsmen of California Lutheran University.
