Nashua, NH – Rivier College softball player Taylor
Cournoyer (Mansfield, MA) was named the Greta Northeast
Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the third time in
this 2010 season this week. The freshman shortstop was unstoppable
at the plate, going 10 for 15 with 3 doubles and a triple for a
.667 batting average. The Raiders went 4-0 on the week, extending
their winning streak to 25 games and their record to 26-1 (20-0
GNAC). Taylor has been hitting out of the 2 hole most of the season
and has continued to do damage. In a double header against Mount
Ida College she went 4 for 7 with 4 RBI's and zero strikeouts.
Then, in another double header, against Norwich University,
Cournoyer went 6 for 8 with 5 RBI's and only 1 strikeout.
Defensively Taylor was a rock at short, she continues to make the
hard plays look easy. The Raiders outscored opponents 39-11 during
the four game stretch with Taylor recording 5 put outs and 3
assists while knocking in 9 runs and scoring 4 runs.
