(West Hartford, CT) With a six run second inning by the Rams, the Rivier University Softball season came to an end this morning in the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament. The Raiders fell to the #8 seed, 11-4.
Junior Hillary Tarr (North Easton, MA) was the bright spot at the plate in the game as she went 2-for-4. Junior Kirstie Clark (Brentwood, NH) added a RBI as she went 1-for-3 and the bottom part of the Raider order all collected at least one hit.
Senior Marissa Mercier (North Smithfield, RI) went 1-for-4 in her last game in a Raider uniform.
Freshman Taylor Miller (Haverhill, MA) started the game and was roughed up a bit as she allowed six runs on five hits in 1.1 innings of work. Tarr came on in relief and tossed the final 5.2 innings. Tarr gave up just five runs (two earned) while striking out two.
The Raiders are only graduating Mercier and classmate Sarah Howard (West Greenwich, RI) from this years' roster. With a good strong nucleus the Raiders should be ready to go even further in the GNAC Tournament in 2014.
