(Boston, Mass.) The Rivier University Softball team dropped a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference contests this evening to Suffolk University, 12-0 and 7-3. The two losses sink the Raiders' record to 9-21 overall and a 3-15 mark in the GNAC. Suffolk improves to 16-20 and 8-10 GNAC.
Game One: Suffolk University 12, Rivier University 0 (Final – 5 innings)
Senior Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) was the only Raider to record a hit as the Rams took game one of the double-header by a 12-0 final.
Sophomore Libby Sammon (Rockland, Mass.) allowed 12 runs on 13 hits in her four innings of work.
Peacock singled in the fourth inning to break up the perfect game.
Game Two: Suffolk University 7, Rivier University 3 (Final)
Freshman Jessica Cote (Nashua, NH) went 3-for-3 with a run scored but it was not enough as the Raiders fell in game two, 7-3.
The Rivier offense smacked around seven hits in the contest but was unable to keep Suffolk at bay.
Senior Kirstie Clark (Brentwood, NH) pitched a complete game allowing the Rams to score seven runs on ten hits while walking five. Freshman Shaylyn Freitas (Pelham, NH) went 1-for-4 with a run scored and classmate Nicole Scotti (Concord, NH) added a RBI base hit in the loss.
The Raiders will have a quick turnaround as they are back on the road tomorrow afternoon with a GNAC double-header at Johnson & Wales University. Rivier will wrap up the 2014 season on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Simmons College.
