(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Softball team finished off a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Double-Header sweep of Mount Ida College this evening as they took a suspended game two by a 17-11 final. The game originally started back on April 8th but was suspended in the 3rd inning when heavy rain and lightning forced the game to come to a halt.
Junior Taylor Miller (Haverhill, Mass.) picked up the win as she tossed the remaining 4.1 innings in relief of classmate Libby Sammon (Rockland, Mass.). Miller allowed four runs, two earned, on nine hits with two strikeouts.
The bottom part of the Raider order did most of the damage against the Mustangs as both junior Lia Bobek (Hollis, N.H.) and sophomore Destiny Jordan (Lawrence, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with five combined RBIs. Junior Kathryn Mostone (Pelham, N.H.) and sophomore Jessica Cote (Nashua, N.H.) each added RBI hits in the contest.
Back on April 8th the Raiders earned the 5-4 win in game one.
Rivier will be on the road this weekend as they travel to Anna Maria tomorrow afternoon and then have a make-up date at Saint Joseph's College in Maine on Sunday afternoon.
