NASHUA, NH: Rivier softball fell in both GNAC contests this afternoon to Simmons University.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: Game One
- The Sharks added one run in each of the first five innings. Shannon McMahon hit in the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly. AJ Swett plated the next with a groundout to second. Maddie Castigliego hit in the third run of the game on a double to left center. The fourth run scored on another sac fly, and Simmons' fifth and final run was scored on a home run by Jordyn Rubin to center field.
- Kaeleigh Arington (N. Reading, MA) would come in to pinch hit in the bottom of the seventh to plate two runs on a single.
- Castigliego would get the win (8-6) after pitching seven innings allowing four hits, two earned runs, and six strikeouts. Sydney Greeno (Shirley, MA) was tagged with the loss (2-7) after pitching all seven innings, allowing nine hits, five earned runs, and two strikeouts.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Top Performers
- Rubin was 2-for-3 with an RBI on the solo home run.
- Emery Reimer finished going 2-for-3.
- Arington was 1-for-1 with 2 RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Game Two
- The Sharks took a quick two-run lead on a two-run blast to deep center field by McMahon. They followed the first up with a four-run second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single by Leah Connor.
- The Raiders would break up the shutout in the sixth on a triple by Christina Panagiotopoulos (Lowell, MA), which pushed one across. Arington added the last with a sac fly.
- Piper Kinney got the complete game win (5-3), allowing just four hits, two earned runs, and nine strikeouts. Nicole Verrette (Haverhill, MA) would get the loss (2-4) with seven innings worth of work, 12 hits allowed, five earned runs, and five strikeouts.

- Connor was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
- McMahon was also 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
- Panagiotopoulos was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
