WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior classmates
Sophia Quinlan and
Hailey Berube have been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Pitcher of the week, respectively, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Quinlan recorded 12 hits in 18 at-bats on the week. Collecting 10 RBI, two doubles, and three home runs. On the week, Quinlan slugged a 1.278, batting a .667 average and had a .687 OBP to secure a 6-0 week for the Raiders. The Salem, N.H. native opened the week against Anna Maria with three hits, including her first collegiate home run. Following her standout performance on Wednesday, Quinlan kept the hot streak with four hits on six at-bats, adding two more RBI against GNAC opponent Norwich. In a dominant performance against Regis (Mass.) Quinlan recorded five hits on seven at-bats, six RBI, two home runs, going for a perfect 4-4 in game two of the series.
Berube also had a standout week for the Raiders, collecting five wins in 29 innings pitched. The Swansea, Mass., had 26 strikeouts on the week, following a dominant seven-strikeout performance against Anna Maria in game one on Wednesday. Berube dominated in the circle against Norwich, totaling 10 strikeouts on the day. Capped off by a 9-strikeout outing against Regis (Mass.). Berube allowed just three earned runs in 29 innings pitched, collecting a .56 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Berube appeared in all six games for the Raiders.
Quinlan, Berube, and the Raiders Softball team return to action Tuesday evening against non-conference opponent UMass Boston. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 4:00 p.m.
