Bruce Marchand will enter his fourth season on the Raiders’ basketball staff in 2026-27. He was promoted to Associate Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator in July 2025.
With Marchand on staff, the Raiders have reached the GNAC postseason in back-to-back seasons, including the program’s best regular-season GNAC performance in 2024-25. He has played a key role in assembling a talented roster, highlighted by All-GNAC Third Team selection Devin Owens ’24, Matt Constant '25, Joey Merrill '25, Izaiah Shaw-Glen '26, Matt Youngquist '28, and Daylen Dalcour '29.
Under Marchand’s guidance, Constant developed into one of the conference’s premier guards, averaging 18.6 points per game while leading all of Division III in three-pointers per game to earn NCAA Statistical Champion recognition. Merrill emerged as a versatile all-around player, contributing across the stat sheet and recording a triple-double during the season. Shaw-Glen also made an immediate impact, earning All-GNAC Third Team and Player of the Week honors behind multiple dominant performances.
The Raiders’ continued growth has also been fueled by rising contributors, including Youngquist, who stepped into an expanded role in 2025-26 and earned GNAC Sportsmanship honors, and Dalcour, who made an immediate impact as a first-year forward. Dalcour averaged 8.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while setting the program’s single-season record for offensive rebounds and earning GNAC Rookie of the Week recognition.Â
During his first season with the program, Marchand helped lead the Raiders to one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation as the team produced 13 more wins than the previous season. This resurgence resulted in Rivier’s first winning season in over a decade and a berth in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinals for the first time since 2013-14.
His responsibilities include leading the program’s recruiting efforts, coordinating advanced scouting and film breakdown, overseeing player development with a focus on post players, and organizing prospect events.
Marchand joined the Rivier University staff following a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Quinsigamond Community College. While at Quinsigamond, he helped guide the program to its first NJCAA Region 21 Final Four appearance in nearly a decade, assisted in recruiting an all-region player, and implemented structured scouting reports into the team’s weekly preparation.
During the same period, Marchand served as the head coach and team advisor for the Worcester Majors of the ABA. In that role, he hired coaching staff, managed both personnel and operations, and reported directly to ownership on day-to-day team functions.
Marchand is also the founder of the Central Mass Dynasty Basketball Club (est. 2019), where he remains CEO and head coach. Additionally, he has worked with Boston Warriors AAU Basketball since 2017, contributing to operations and player development.
From 2018-20, Marchand served as the junior varsity boys’ basketball head coach at Abby Kelly Foster Charter High School.
During his senior year at Nichols College, Marchand took on the role of men’s basketball manager. While at Nichols, he studied Sport Management and Psychology, earning his Bachelor’s degree in 2018.
