Head Coach Kelly O'Connell is entering her 5th season at thehelm of the Raider Basketball and Softball Programs.  CoachO'Connell spent the last four seasons helping to build thefoundation of what have become two of the premier programs in theGNAC (Great Northeast Athletic Conference) and in NewEngland. 

Basketball

In 2008-2009, the Women's Basketball team enjoyed a verysuccessful 17-win season.  This was the most wins by any teamin program history. The Raiders qualified for the GNAC post seasontournament for the third consecutive season and headed intotournament play as the 5th seed. Riv has severalreturning players along with a talented group of newcomers and willlook to improve upon their success in 2009-2010.

Softball

After 2 consecutive 25-win seasons, the Raiders struggledputting runs across the plate in 2009 which resulted in a slightlydisappointing 17-win season. Riv qualified for their 3rdconsecutive GNAC post season tournament and advanced to thedouble-elimination portion of the tournament in as many tries. Thehighlight of the program was their 25-win season of 2008 in whichthey won the GNAC tournament, advanced to the NCAA Regional's andcame home with the college's first-ever NCAA National Tournamentvictory. 2010 is the year the Raiders look to get back to the GNACChampionship game and hopefully bring back the title toRaider-land. Coach O'Connell was named the GNAC Coach-of-the Yearin 2007. 

Coach O'Connell was equally successful as a collegiateplayer.  She played for the Elms College Blazers for fouryears. Coach O'Connell led her team to 2 MAIAW State Championships(1 in basketball and 1 in softball) during her sophomore and junioryears and was named the basketball tournament's MVP after scoring28 points and hauling down 8 rebounds in the title game. During hercareer Coach O'Connell was named the ECAC Player of the Week onnumerous occasions. As a basketball player, she captained her squadher junior and senior year and finished as a 1000 point scorer. Insoftball, O'Connell served as a captain her senior year andfinished as a career .400 hitter.
