Rivier College (11-1 GNAC; 23-10 overall) defeated Lasell College in the first round of the GNAC playoffs 3-0.  Rivier, the #1 seed in the tournament, averaged 28 digs/set to control the visiting Lasers attack.  First year player Lauren Saccoccio led all Raiders with 24 digs followed by senior libero Colleen Van Cura with 23 digs.  Junior Becky Gautreau and freshman Danielle Stoodley combined for 22 digs to round off the defense.  Senior setter Laura Ciummo directed the Raider attack with 44 assists and also served tough with 4 ace serves.  Senior Nicole Hersey led all hitters with 16 kills followed by Saccoccio with 9 kills.  Junior middle hitter Lindsay Chace put down 7 kills in just 2 games while senior middle hitter Erin McIver helped with 3 kills.  Sophomore Brittni Taylor played well with 4 kills and 4 digs off the bench.
