Nashua, NH - In an important GNAC match-up, Rivier
College once again came up on the short end of the stick, falling
to Suffolk University 2-1.
The score remained 0-0 until the 40th minute of
play when Nina Seher (Nashua, NH) was in the right
place at the right time and scored off a goalkeeper deflection
during her first minute in the game. Unfortunately for Rivier,
that was the only ball that bounced their way. A stingy
Suffolk defense and a red hot Samantha Stellmach (Portsmouth, NH)
in the goal with 12 saves on the night prevented any other scoring
attempts by the Raiders.
Rivier entered halftime with the 1-0 lead, but it
wouldn't hold as the Rams scored just 7 minutes into the
half. Leslie Hayden (Ross, CA) scored first for the Rams
followed just six minutes later by Emma Lobozzo (New Gloucester,
ME), assisted by Hayden, for what ended up being the game
winner.
Rivier goalkeeper Brittany Puleo
(Hudson, NH) was once again stellar in goal with 9 saves on the
night.
The win improves Suffolk to 3-2-0 overall on the
season, 2-1-0 in the GNAC, while the loss drops Rivier to 2-5-0
overall and 1-3-0 in the GNAC.
