Rivier College (3-1 GNAC; 12-10 overall) defeated a pair of GNAC
opponents in three straight sets to improve to 3-1 in the Great
Northeast Athletic Conference.
The first match of the day featured two teams with 10-10
records but ended with the Raiders on top with a dominating
performance. Freshman Kenna Finlayson led
the home team thumping down a team high 9 kills along with 3 ace
serves. Juniors Nicole Rodriguez and
Danielle Jacques were spotless
combining for 14 kills on 20 attempts with no errors for an
impressive .700 hitting percentage. Setters
Lauren Saccoccio and Caitlin
Callahan directed the offense with 26 assists.
Saccoccio scooped up 6 digs while Callahan floated a team high 4
aces serves at the Cadets. Senior Lindsay
Chace and sophomore Emileigh Cenedella
were steady with with 3 and 5 kills respectively along with 4 digs
apiece. In the back court Becky Gautreau and Danielle
Stoodley played well with solid passing and a combined 11
digs.
In the second match of the Raider double up double down series
it was the Raiders newbie's who came out with flying aces.
Freshman Meghan Farrell led the offense with a
team high 8 kills while first year setter Christi
Pratte dished out 9 assists. Sophomore
Kate-Lyn Breault had her hand in everything with 3
kills, 3 digs, and 3 blocks along with 1 service ace while junior
Brittni Taylor was just as nice with 3 kills, 4
digs, and 2 blocks. First year players Amelia
Iverson and Courtney Roberts-Cookson
played well with a combined 3 kills, 3 aces, and 3 digs.
