Nashua, NH- Rivier falls to 1-2 on the season after a tough
81-80 loss to the New England College Pilgrims (3-2). The
Pilgrims had the lead with 2.9 seconds left in the game, but could
not find a way to get the ball in thanks to good defense from the
Raiders. The Raiders had the ball under their own basket but
could not put the ball in the hoop before time ran off the clock.
The Raiders played from behind the whole game but managed the
keep the game within striking distance. Captain Don
Poitras (Bow, NH) dominated the inside for the Raiders
with a game high 23 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore
Will Snider (Brooklyn, NY) had a strong game for
the Raiders with 15 points and 7 assists. Sophomore
Joe Granato (Arlington, MA) had a season high 16
points in the game while playing 31 minutes for the Raiders.
But this was not enough as the Pilgrims shot 63% from the floor and
held on for the win.
The Pilgrims forward Eric Lenahan (Point
Pleasant Beach, NJ) led the way with 16 points and was 3-4 from
behind the arc. The Pilgrims also got a spark off the bench
from Shane Hennessey (Clement, UK) who was 6-8
from the floor with 13 total points. Joe
Faragher (North Ridgeville, OH) also contributed with 16
points and 6 boards.
The Raiders will play again on December 2, 2009 up in Norwich,
VT at 7:30 PM.
