Boston, MA -- The Rivier College Men's Basketball team (9-7
GNAC, 12-9 overall) used a 13-0 run in the last 3:57 of the game to
pull out a 93-80 victory at Suffolk University's Regan Gymnasium
Tuesday night.
Brian Small led Suffolk (2-12 GNAC, 3-18 overall) with 21 points
and 12 rebounds on 7-15 shooting. Sophomore Allan Ray added 14
points on 5-10 shooting off the bench for the Rams.
Kevin Harrington carried the Raiders' offense with 22
points and seven assists on 7-13 shooting. Lance
Bisson finished his night with 19 points. Dj
Poitras added 18 points on 8-10 shooting and Felipe Lima
shot 7-10 from the field and finished with 16 points.
The Raiders got off to a fast 10-0 start and remained hot for
the rest of the game, shooting 60.7% from the field and 58.8% from
three.
Suffolk trailed 44-34 at halftime despite the slow start, but
tied the game at 53-53 with 13:23 remaining after a basket from
Ray. The two teams continued to trade blows as the second half
moved on and after a Bisson three, the Raiders had an 80-78
advantage with 4:41 remaining. A jumper from Small tied the game at
80-80 with 3:57 on the clock, but the Rams were unable to score for
the remainder of the contest.
Nick Bean's only two points of the game gave
the Raiders the win and an 82-80 lead with 3:41 remaining. Suffolk
trailed 84-80 after a jumper from Poitras, but the Rams committed
three turnovers on their next three possessions, falling behind
91-80 with 1:28 left in the game.
