Raiders Clinch - Will Host GNAC Tournament

No-3 Rivier College (10-0 GNAC; 25-1 overall) defeated GNAC foe Johnson & Wales University in three straight sets to remain a perfect 10-0 in conference play.  The Raiders struggled to find their defensive intensity in set 1 but clamped down in the last two sets to cruise to their 22nd straight win.  Senior Scott Wright was a monster for RIV in the first 2 sets pounding out 6 kills and a team high 3 service aces along with 2 blocks.  Junior Matt Ferreira followed Wright's lead with 8 kills on 11 swings for a .636 hitting percentage in just 2 sets.   Junior Zach Hansen dished out 32 assists while scooping up 4 digs and sophomore Austin Soucy led all Raiders with 9 kills, 6 digs, and a perfect 15 for 15 on receive.  Sophomore pin hitters Chris Deluca and Jared Andreozzi combined for 11 kills and 2 blocks while first year players Andrew Paine and Tajh Stokes combined for 4 kills.  Stokes led RIV with 3 blocks as well.
 
On Saturday March 28th Rivier will host the GNAC Championship Tournament.  This will be the second straight year the Blue and Gray have had the honor of hosting the championship tournament.
