No-3 Rivier College (29-1 overall; 12-0 GNAC) won a hard fought
victory over No-13 Endicott College to extend the nation's longest
win streak to 26 straight matches. The scrappy Gulls tested
the Raiders resolve forcing the Blue and Gray to dig down deep and
work hard for a season high 73 digs, 80 kills, and 15 blocks on the
match. Leading the way was senior Scott
Wright who energized the Raiders with big kills and blocks
along with timely ace serves. The 6'7 middle hitter from
Salem New Hampshire recorded 18 kills, 7 blocks, 5 digs, and 4
service aces (3 in set 5) to pace the Raiders. Connecticut
natives Zach Hansen and Austin
Soucy both recorded double doubles in the 5 set
battle. Hansen directed the offense with a season high 72
assists and led all Raiders with 15 digs while Soucy pounded out a
team high 21 kills and scooped up 10 digs. Both players also
recorded 4 blocks apiece. Sophomore Jared
Andreozzi was nearly unstoppable on offense with 20 kills
on 36 attempts with just 2 errors for a .500 hitting percentage
while junior Matt Ferreira was big in the end with
15 kills and 5 blocks. Back court tandem Kyle
O'Neill and Chris Convertito had their
best match to date. The pair combined for a stellar 41 for 41
on receive while lipping 26 Gull attacks. Freshman
Drew Corwin rounded off the Raiders with 10 digs,
4 kills, 3 blocks along with solid passing.
