RIV Sweeps New Haven on Scottie Wright Night

No-3 Rivier College (32-1 overall; 12-0 GNAC), the 2009 GNAC
Champions, defeated University of New Haven in three straight sets
to wrap-up their regular season with a record 29 straight
wins. Senior Scott Wright played in his last
regular season match at The Muldoon and went out with a bang.
The 6'7 middle hitter put down 9 kills on 14 attempts with just 1
error for a .571 hitting percentage while tallying a team high 4
blocks. Junior Matt Ferreira, Wright's
partner as the M.O.N's, pounded out 8 kills on 12 attempts with no
errors in just 2 games. Sophomore Jared
Andreozzi put down a team high 14 kills while registering
6 digs, 3 blocks, and 2 service aces. Setter Zach
Hansen dished out 43 assists and freshman Drew
Corwin picked up 6 digs. Chris
Deluca and Andrew Paine rounded off the
offense with 4 and 3 kills respectively.

Rivier will take on Hunter College on Friday April 3rd at 2pm in
the first round of the NECVA Regional Tournament. Rivier, the
#1 seed in the tournament, will need to win to move on to their
next match slated for 11:00am on Saturday April 4.
