Pat's Peak Ski Area and the 1st remnants of fall
where the backdrop for the Rivier College Men's Soccer match at New
England College. The Raiders gave up goals in the
10th, 28th and 55th minutes to a
very organized and fast playing Pilgrim squad as New England
College sealed the 3-1 victory over Rivier. The brightest spot on
this sun drenched afternoon was a goal from freshman Eric
Moreno (Lynn, MA) (1-0-2). Moreno's goal was a rocket of a
shot off a rebound. The play started with a dead ball free kick by
senior Gustavo Marques (Lowell, MA). Marques hit a
low shot that rebounded off the wall that Moreno crushed past the
Pilgrims goalkeeper. Rivier junior keeper John
Jarvis (Henniker, NH) went the distance in goal. Jarvis
had three (3) saves on 10 shots. Sophomore defender Cameron
Williams (Lisbon, NH) continued his outstanding play,
thwarting the NEC attack time and time again. Junior Andrew
McCarn (Laconia, NH) played well in defense and
contributed many balls that started Raider attacks.
The Raiders are on the road Saturday September 12th
at Mt. Ida College to open up its Great Northeast Athletic
Conference schedule (GNAC) in Newton, MA.
