Rivier College Women Soccer Win 3-0 over Pine Manor College

Rivier College Opened up Conference play against Pine Manor College (Chestnut Hill, MA) on Wednesday October 16th with a 3-0 victory. It was a game that would see Rivier College dominate the stat sheet, but with the exeption of a goal at 23:55 of the first half by Nina Seher (Nashua, NH) from freshmen Sam Provencher (Merrimack, NH) Rivier really had not much to show for it.

Building on the game this past Sunday, the young Raiders continued to play a high pressure style forcing turnovers and quick counter attacks into the other teams final third. But Keeper Colleen Tencza of Ct made some nice saves for Pine Manor, keeping her team in the game.

The second half saw the Raiders starting out a bit sluggish, but the their work ethic and fitness proved too much for the Gators and eventually Rivier would wear Pine Manor down. In the 61st minute, Freshmen Amy Desimone (Methuen,MA) would score her second goal in as many games for the Raiders as she would follow in a 35 yard shot from Meg Hickey (Derry, NH) that would hit the cross bar. The keeper would get her hand on it but unable to control it and Amy was able to push it into the back of the net to make it 2-0 for the Raiders.

The next goal would come from Senior Lauren Bradshaw (Nashua NH) at the 77th minute, as she received a ball on the flank some 40 yards out and was able to put a move on a defender and attack the net. Forcing the keeper off her line, Bradshaw was able to play it wide of the charging goal tender from 18 yards out and the ball had just enough on it to get over the line and count as the final goal and complete the 3-0 victory for the Raiders of Rivier College.

The Young Raiders would out shoot the Gators 26 to 6 and goaltender Britt Puleo (Hudson, NH)would get her second consecutive shut out , making three saves for the game.

The Raiders move to 1-0 in conference play and 2-1 overall. Their next game will be this Saturday 9/19 at home at 2:30 against conference rival, Albertus Magnus College. It will also be the day that the new turf field will be officially opened and blessed , the ceremony starts at 11:30am at the college.
