Nashua, NH - Rivier College (8-8 overall; 1-1 GNAC) won their
4th straight match and reached the .500 mark for the first time
this season.
The Raiders started out with solid defense and offense in set 1
to easily handle the visiting Fighting Scots. RIV let off the
gas in set 2 however and quickly went down 7-0 to start out the
game forcing themselves to fight hard just to tie the set
at 20. Their come back went for not however as unforced
errors popped up at inopportune times causing set 2 to go to
Gordon College. In set 3 RIV clawed their way to
the win and rode that momentum through set 4 for the match
victory.
First year player Kenna Finlayson led the
Raiders charge with 12 kills in just 3 sets while juniors
Nicole Rodriguez and Danielle
Jacques followed with 12 and 10 kills respectively in the
4 sets. Rodriguez hit .391 on the match while Jacques pounded
out a robust .563 hitting percentage. Setter/hitter
Lauren Saccoccio played well all the way around
with 24 assists, 8 digs, 4 kills, and 1 service ace while
counterpart Caitie Callahan dished out 22
assists. Senior libero Becky Gautreau had a
team high 17 digs while sophomore Danielle
Stoodley scooped up 11 of her own.
Emileigh Cenedella passed a perfect 11 for 11 on
receive to lead the Blue and White.

Rivier will travel to Bowdoin College on Friday 10/2 to take on
Mount Holyoke College at 8:00pm. On Saturday 10/3 Rivier will
challenge Worcester State College at 11:00am and Bowdoin College at
1:30pm.
