The Rivier women's soccer team dropped their official season
opener on Saturday 2-1 against UMass Boston, despite outshooting
the Beacons 13-12.
Sophomore Meg Hickey scored the lone goal for
the Raiders in the defeat while 3 players (Amy Desimone,
Sam Provencher and Kathleen Moran) each had 3 shots, but
couldn't convert as Beacon goalkeeper Michelle Cain stopped 7 of 8
shots on goal.
Rivier's goalkeepers Brittany Puleo and
Karina Arnold did a great job as well, as Puleo
played the first half with an injured shoulder, giving up both
goals, then freshman Arnold took over in the second half and shut
down the Beacons for the remainder of the game.
The Raiders will take the field again on Sunday, September
13th as they travel to the University of
Maine-Farmington for a 1:00 pm game.
