Nashua, NH- Mount Ida (8-3) seemed to be too
much for Rivier (3-8) as they defeated the Raiders 74-54 in
tonight's GNAC conference matchup. The difference in the game
was at the free throw line where the Mustangs made 29 of 36 for 80%
while the Raiders could only muster 17 of 28 for 60% from the
stripe. The Mustangs kept the Raiders in check from behind
the arc as they only shot 16% from the three point line.
Keith Jones (Boston, MA) led
the Mustangs with 23 points while going 16-16 from the foul line
while teammate Teddy Louis (Malden MA) recorded a
double-double scoring 11 points and grabbed 10 boards.
Darren Martinez (Dorchester, MA)
also had a solid game for Mount Ida scoring 14 points and adding 4
assists.
Nick Bean (E. Longmeadow, MA)
tried to keep his team in the game by leading the Raiders with 18
points while going 5-5 from the free throw line, but a 1-10 showing
from 3 point land had the Raiders scrapping for too many long
rebounds without any attempt for second chance points.
Joe Granato (Arlington, MA)
chipped in with a double-double of his own with 12 points and 10
total rebounds, but it was not enough for the Raiders who fall to
0-4 in conference play.
The Raiders will head to Emmanuel College in Boston, MA on
Thursday January 14, 2010 as they look to get their first
conference win of the season. Meanwhile, Mount Ida who
improves to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play will conference
leader Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT on the same day.
