Zach Hansen, a 6-foot-1 senior setter, was the
spark as Rivier went 6-0 to open the 2010 season, with three wins
over nationally ranked squads and another over a Division I side.
In six matches over 21 sets, he averaged 13.19 assists, 1.40
points, 1.67 digs, 0.67 blocks and 0.38 aces per set. He has led
the Raiders to a spectacular team hitting percentage of .345, and
his ability to spread the ball effectively allowed six different
teammates to hit over .300 and five over .400 for the then-#6
ranked Raiders. In a 3-1 win over Medaille College, he dished 46
assists, with seven digs and two blocks. In a sweep of #10 Baruch
College, he again delivered 46 assists, with five digs. He played
two sets in a sweep of Johnson & Wales University, tallying 21
assists. In a sweep of #12 Ramapo College, he paced Rivier to a
.488 hitting percentage, providing 39 assists, with four blocks,
while hitting .429 with four kills himself. In a 3-1 win against
Philadelphia Biblical University, he delivered a double-double of
60 assists and 15 digs. He concluded the week with a season-high 65
assists and four blocks in a 3-2 triumph over Division I Sacred
Heart University.
For his efforts, Hansen was also selected as the Sports
Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week.
