Nashua, NH - Rivier College (7-0 GNAC; 13-8 overall) hosted
Emmanuel College for a Columbus Day encounter and sent the Saints
home with their 3rd GNAC loss of the season. The Raiders
played steady consistent ball in the first 2 sets for a 2-0 lead
but Emmanuel would not go away as they came back to win set 3 after
losing the second set by 17 points. Rivier regrouped half way
through set 4 and put away the visitors to pick up their 7th GNAC
win of the year.
Setter Lauren Saccoccio (Warwick,
RI) directed a well balanced offense for Rivier dishing out 39
assists which included 3 different Raider attackers in double
digits for kills. The 5'6 junior from Warwick Rhode Island also
recorded 6 digs and 3 service aces. Middle hitters Nicole
Rodriguez (Newton, MA) and Nicole
Peacock (Warwick, RI) controlled the net with an 11
kill/3 block and a 10 kill/6 block performance while pin hitters
Meghan Farrell (Marlborough, MA) and
Danielle Jacques (Derry, NH) combined for 7
kills. Sophomore Kenna Finlayson (Derry,
NH) registered a double double with a match high 14 kills and
a solid 11 digs. The Raiders back row, not to be outdone by the
offense, was impressive all match as well. Emileigh
Cenedella (Townsend, MA), Caitlin
Callahan (Dedham, MA), and Jessica Amaral
(E. Providence, RI) were scrappy and aggressive to make big
plays for the Blue and White. The trio combined for 28 digs, 7 of
the Raiders 10 ace serves, and good passing.
