Nashua, NH - The Rivier College Field Hockey team fell to the
visiting Wildcats of Wheelock College 6-1 in tonights
non-conference women's filed hockey action.
After a tightly played first half, where the shot totals were an
equal 7-7, the Raiders found themselves in good position, trailing
1-0 after a Taylor Rogers (Essex, MA) goal in the 20th minute
of play. Rogers took the pass from Julie Kilcoyne (Sterling,
MA) after a corner play and found the back of the net.
The second half, would not be as forgiving for the Raiders, who
gave up 5 more goals in the span of twelve minutes between the 52nd
and 64th minute of the half. Despina Savvoulides (Norwalk,
CT) scored two goals and had two assists during the half and
Chelsey Ballard added a goal and assist for the visiting team en
route to the 6-1 victory.
Kristen Tyler* (Thornton, NH) scored the loan
goal for the Raiders after picking up the rebound of a Hillary
Bouchard (Wells, ME) shot in the final minute of play. The
Raiders did have their opportunities to score, getting off six
shots on goal, but the combination of Wheelock goal keepers
Meredith Rice (Marion, MA) and Michelle Greene (Mansfield, MA)
accounted for 5 saves, with Green giving up the late goal.

Stephen gave up all six goals in the loss and recorded
7 saves as the Wildcats rattled off 13 shots on goal.
Tonight was the last home game of the 2010 season for the
Raiders. The team will play 3 more games on the road in the
next week, with the first taking place this Saturday, October 23rd
at 1:00 pm at Lasell College in Newton, MA.
