Bangor, ME – Husson University downed Rivier College 8-1
in North Atlantic Conference action for their second NAC win in as
many days. The Eagles dominated the game with Kasja Blindow and
Jill Morin scoring two goals apiece and Helen Berry tallying 4
assists on the win. Husson improves to 4-4 (2-1 NAC) while Rivier
falls to 1-7 (2-0 NAC).
Husson reached the scoreboard 5:19 into the first half when
Kasja Blindow powered an unassisted goal for the Eagles. Five
minutes later, Berry received the ball off a short-corner, beat a
Rivier defender and passed to a waiting Jill Morin who fired a goal
to Rivier goalie, Nicole
Hauswirth's, left. Caroline Baochtler entered the
scoring when she hit a bullet from the top of the circle that
traveled undeterred into the Rivier goal, pushing the Eagle lead to
3-0.
Husson would end the half with a comfortable 4-0 lead,
outshooting Rivier 25-0. Blindow tallied her second goal of the day
and fourth of the week off an unassisted shot early in the second
half, pushing the Eagle lead to 5-0.
The Raiders reached the scoreboard when Lindsay
Rettenmeier (Ashford, CT) collected a rebound from a
previous save to goalkeeper Danyle Boobar's right and put it in the
goal.
In goal for Rivier, Hauswirth put up an admirable effort,
earning 27 saves on 35 Eagle shots on goal. Boobar recorded 2 saves
on the win. Husson outshot Rivier 55-3 on the day.
After the game, Katie McCabe stated, "we are playing well at the
right time and really coming together as a team. We continue to
work hard and are looking to Wednesday's game against Thomas
College."
The Eagles travel to Thomas College on Wednesday, October 6 for
a 3:30 NAC contest. Rivier faces Bay Path on October 11.
