RIV REACHES 20 WIN MARK FOR 6TH STRAIGHT YEAR
Nashua, NH - Rivier College (11-1 GNAC; 21-10 overall) defeated GNAC opponents St Joseph's College (ME) 3-1 and Mount Ida College 3-0 to finish the regular season with an impressive 11 wins and only 1 loss. The two wins helped clinch the #2 seed for the upcoming GNAC tournament starting on Tuesday November 2.
Rivier opened up the day trying to find themselves early as they struggled with a scrappy St Joe's team. RIV was able to barely pull out the 1st set only to go on to lose the 2nd set but then came alive to dominate the last two sets. Sophomore Kenna Finlayson (Derry, NH) posted yet another 20 kill match to lead the Raiders while senior Nicole Rodriguez (Newton, MA) was on key in the middle with 14 kills on 27 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. Senior Danielle Jacques (Derry, NH) and freshman Nicole Boucher (Windham, NH) chipped in with 4 kills each and junior setter Lauren Saccoccio (Warwick, RI) dished out 41 assists in the win. Caitlin Callahan (Dedham, MA) passed well and played steady defense with 11 digs for RIV and Emileigh Cenedella (Twonsend, MA) served a match high 5 ace serves.
In the second match of the day, Rivier posted one of their best performances of the year. It all started on receive as Rivier passed 37 out 40 attempts allowing the offense to post a .322 team hitting percentage. The defense followed suit with a suffocating 10.5 blocks and 40 digs while the serving could not be overlooked with 9 ace serves in just 3 sets. Back row players Jessica Amaral (E. Providence, RI), Caitlin Callahan, and Emileigh Cenedella were stellar combining for 29 of the Raiders 37 passes to allow RIV to run full tilt on offense. The trio also picked up 9,3, and 7 digs respectively. Setter Lauren Saccoccio directed a great offense dishing out 31 assists and blew game 3 wide open with a 15 point run on her serve. Middle hitters Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) and Nicole Rodriguez were dominating in the victory. Peacock, a 5'7 freshman, scored 8 kills with a .400 hitting percentage and Rodriguez, a 5'8 senior, put down 8 kills with a .375 hitting percentage. The duo roofed 6 and 4 of the Mustang attacks respectively. Sophomore Kenna Finlayson pounded out a tidy 14 kills on 23 attempts with just 2 errors for a .522 hitting percentage and classmate Meghan Farrell (Marlborough, MA)was consistent with 7 kills on 14 attempts with just 2 errors for a .357 hitting percentage. Senior Danielle Jacques had her hand in all categories with 2 kills, 3 assists, 3 digs and 2 blocks.

#2 Rivier will host the first round of the GNAC playoffs on Tuesday November 2 at 7:00pm against #7 Lasell College.
