Riv (15-8; 7-4) played 40 minutes of uninspired basketball which
resulted in a disappointing loss. The visitors failed to execute
the basics as they allowed 24 second-chance points while jacking up
26 treys (connecting on only 7 of them). The Falcons led from start
to finish and never let the Blue and Gray find a rhythm. The
Raiders tried to make a comeback in the second half but several
missed box outs and costly turnovers killed any momentum.
The lone bright spot for Riv was senior Monica
White (Augusta, ME) surpassing the 1000 point plateau for
her career. Needing only 3 points entering the game, White drained
a deep trifecta with under 3 minutes left until intermission. White
finished with a team-high 12 points to go with 4 rebounds and just
1 turnover in 30 minutes of action. Monica becomes only the second
4-year player to score 1000 points since 1998 (fellow senior Jess
Mellen is the first). Junior Steph Adams (Nashua,
NH) and freshman Ashley Metivier (Hudson, NH) were
the only other Raiders to score in double figures as they each
finished with 10 points. Senior Jess Mellen
(Rockland, MA) finished with a team-high 9 rebounds (4 offensive).
The Raiders are home on Tuesday night for a make or break
conference matchup against the Sharks of Simmons College. This is
the final home game of the season and seniors Jess Mellen and
Monica White will be honored before the game. Tip is scheduled for
7pm.
