Raiders Offense a Non-Factor as JWU Sweeps Past Rivier

Nashua, NH- The Johnson & Wales Wildcats took care of the Raiders with ease this afternoon in a double-header at Holman Stadium 18-1 and 18-0.  The Wildcats feasted on the Raiders pitching staff as they collected a total of 35 hits that generated 36 runs.  The Raiders pitchers didn't help themselves out as they gave 17 free passes to Wildcats hitters.  The Raiders bats seemed to be missing as well as they only collected 6 hits in the games.

Senior Captain Ryan O'Connor (Medford, MA) was a bright spot in the Raiders line up as he collected 3 hits, scored 1 run, and an RBI in the two games.  Fellow Senior Captain Chris Hunt (Lisbon, NH) hit in the first run of the first game and collected 1 hit on the afternoon.  Aramis Velez (Lowell, MA) and Cory Burns (Dorchester, MA) had the other two hits for the Raiders.

The Wildcats were led by Jon Melenez (Providence, RI) who had 5 hits, 4 RBIs, and scored 6 runs on the afternoon.  Mike Murphy (Pawtucket, RI) and Nick Alosco (Mahopac, NY) also had with 5 hits in the games.  Jason Tsangarides (Hinsdale, MA) got his first win of the 2010 season as he shut down the Raiders offence as he surrendered 1 run on 2 hits with11 K's in 6 innings.   Jeff Jordan (Woodbridge, NJ) got his second win on the season as he didn't allow a run on 4 hits with 7 strike outs as he went the distance.
