Nashua, NH- The Johnson & Wales Wildcats took care of the
Raiders with ease this afternoon in a double-header at Holman
Stadium 18-1 and 18-0. The Wildcats feasted on the Raiders
pitching staff as they collected a total of 35 hits that generated
36 runs. The Raiders pitchers didn't help themselves
out as they gave 17 free passes to Wildcats hitters. The
Raiders bats seemed to be missing as well as they only collected 6
hits in the games.
Senior Captain Ryan O'Connor (Medford,
MA) was a bright spot in the Raiders line up as he
collected 3 hits, scored 1 run, and an RBI in the two games.
Fellow Senior Captain Chris Hunt (Lisbon, NH) hit
in the first run of the first game and collected 1 hit on the
afternoon. Aramis Velez (Lowell, MA) and
Cory Burns (Dorchester, MA) had the other two hits
for the Raiders.
The Wildcats were led by Jon Melenez (Providence, RI) who had 5
hits, 4 RBIs, and scored 6 runs on the afternoon. Mike Murphy
(Pawtucket, RI) and Nick Alosco (Mahopac, NY) also had with 5 hits
in the games. Jason Tsangarides (Hinsdale, MA) got his first
win of the 2010 season as he shut down the Raiders offence as he
surrendered 1 run on 2 hits with11 K's in 6 innings.
Jeff Jordan (Woodbridge, NJ) got his second win on the season
as he didn't allow a run on 4 hits with 7 strike outs as he
went the distance.
The Raiders will host Norwich on Sunday April 11,2010 as they
look to get a couple of wins to stay in the playoff hunt. The
Wildcats will head to New Haven, CT Sunday to take on the Falcons
of Albertus Magnus.
