Nashua, NH- The Emerson Lions (6-3, 6-1) took care of the Rivier
Raiders (3-6, 2-4) with a score of 24-6 in tonight's GNAC matchup.
Emerson set the tone early as they scored 15 of their 24 goals in
the first half while the Raiders could only manage 4 first have
goals. The second half wasn't much different as #12 Nicole Lecuyer
set the tone by scoring in the first 10 seconds of the second half
after Emerson had won the faceoff. The Raiders defense seemed to be
on their heels the whole game as they allowed 36 shots and only
managed 2 turnovers, which came in second half of the game.
The Raider's points leader Lauren Brett (Otisfield,
ME) had another good game for the Raiders as she put in 4
of her six shots and added an assist for a total of 5 points.
Natalie Bonvie (Salem, NH) and Georgia
Steese (Wilmot, NH) rounded out the Raiders offense as
each had a goal. Goalkeepers Lauren Hall (Pelham,
NH) and Caliegh Bertolaccini (Chelmsford,
MA) split time in the net as they combined for 9 saves in
the game.
Emerson's Katie Dodge (West Newbury, MA) and Carmen Trobaug
(Gales Ferry, CT) led the way for the offense as they each put 4
balls in the back of the net. Meg Ross (Wrentham, MA) contributed
to the Lions' win with 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points on the
night. Emerson's goalie Emily Saeger (Center Valley, PA) got the
win as she only allowed 6 goals and made 7 saves on the night.
The Raiders will continue their home stand as they welcome
Nichols College to Rivier Field for a 7:00PM start on April 15,
2010. Emerson will head to Norton, MA where they will take on
Wheaton College on April 15, 2010 at 4:30 PM.
