Northfield, VT - The Cadets struck first as a double, a single and an error plated the first run. The Raiders (26-1; 20-0) briefly took the lead in the third inning after an RBI single by freshman Taylor Cournoyer (Mansfield, MA) was followed by a run-scoring error. Norwich wasted little time in responding as a single and a homerun in the home half of the frame put them ahead 3-2. Freshman Katie Bachinski (Northfield, MA) got things started in the sixth inning with a single and stolen base. Cournoyer scored Bachinski on a base hit and was chased home with the game-winning RBI by freshman Marissa Mercier (N. Smithfield, RI). Senior Brenna Campbell (Nashua, NH) provided the Blue and Gray with a much needed insurance run as she sent a towering shot over the centerfield fence. Senior Monica White (Augusta, ME) got the win despite getting banged around for two earned runs. She gave up 5 hits (only 1 hit in the final four innings) while striking out 11.

Game 2 saw the Raiders pound out 25 hits, including 4 homeruns. Seniors Jess Mellen (Rockland, MA) and Brenna Campbell (Nashua, NH) had monster games. Mellen finished 5 for 5 with 4 runs scored, 3 RBI and a homerun. Campell finished 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Freshman Taylor Cournoyer (Mansfield, MA), senior Monica White (Augusta, ME) and freshman Katie Bachinski (Northfield, MA) each chipped in with 3 hits. Cournoyer added 3 RBI to her 2 doubles. White had 4 RBI with a double and a triple. Bachinski plated 4 runs with a triple and 2 homeruns. Junior Amanda Ryan (W. Bridgewater, MA) added a homerun and 2 RBI. White went the distance on the mound to pick up her conference-leading 22nd win. She gave up just 1 earned run while scattering 8 hits and struck out an additional 8 Cadets in the 5 inning contest.

The Raiders return to Nashua tomorrow evening as they welcome the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College. Please come help us celebrate the fantastic careers of Riv's 4 seniors: Jess Mellen, Alexa Feener, Brenna Campbell and Monica White.
