Nashua, NH – Freshman Shane Devaney (Merrimack, N.H.)
erupted for a season high eight goals and added three assists while
sophomore Alex McKenzie (Nashua, N.H.) added six goals and two
assists leading host Daniel Webster College past Rivier College,
23-2 in the first ever meeting between the two programs Tuesday at
Eagle Field.
Justin Chiulli (Saugus, Mass.) netted four goals while Antonio
Polson (Lanesboro, Mass.) added two and one assist. Noah Smith
(Medford, Mass.), Parker Condit (Blairstown, N.J.) and Mike Jordan
(Wakefield, Mass.) potted solo scores as the Eagles evened their
overall record at 4-4.
Tommy Driscoll (South Boston, Mass.) finished with three saves
while Lucas Ragusa (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) added one save in relief.
Corey Oliverio (Salem, N.H.) and Randy
Perrine (Merrimack, N.H.) notched one goal each for the
first year Raiders (0-7). Matt Besaw (Glen Falls,
N.Y.) posted a solid effort in goal with 23 saves.
The win set a new program record for goals in a game and was the
largest margin of victory for the program in its history,
surpassing a 22-0 victory over Castleton in the program's first
season back in 2002.
The Eagles jumped all over the Raiders in the opening quarter as
McKenzie scored twice in the opening 50 seconds and DWC ended the
quarter scoring eight times and led 11-0 at the half. In all, the
Eagles built a 16-0 advantage after three until Perrine scored for
Rivier 42 seconds into the fourth to break the shutout bid.
The Eagles followed with six more until Oliverio would score
with 2:27 left.
DWC finished with a 77-8 total shots advantage and added a 63-25
groundball difference on the day.
The Eagles closing out their season with three road contests
beginning Thursday with a trip to Waterville, Maine to play Thomas
College at 4:00 p.m.
Rivier hosts Lasell next Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
