To the credit of the Raiders, they were able to take their lumps
in the first match and make adjustments to help them win the second
match. The Raiders jumped on the host Cougars early in game one
with some great serving and defense, forcing a number of free balls
and roll shots from the host school. Caitlin
Callahan (Dedham, MA) recorded a team high 5 ace serves
while Kenna Finlayson (Derry, NH) had her most
consistent match to date, recording 12 kills, 4 aces and 6 digs.
Danielle
Jacques (Derry, NH) added 8 kills and 1 block, while
classmate Nicole Rodriguez (Newton, MA) had 7
kills and 1 block. Junior Lauren
Saccoccio (Warwick, RI) directed the offense in the
second match, tossing up 21 assists in the victory to go along with
her 8 digs. Freshman middle hitter Nicole
Peacock (Warwick, RI) had her best match to date as
well, recording 8 kills and 4 blocks. Peacock was also able to jump
into the back row and pass two gems at the end of the match after a
minor injury to libero Emileigh
Cenedella (Townsend, MA) forced her to the sideline.
Cenedella picked up a match high 22 digs before leaving the
game.
The split moves the Raiders record to 4-6 on the season. The
Raiders will take on in-state foe Plymouth State University next on
Tuesday, September 21st at 7:00 PM in Nashua, NH and will travel to
Keene State on Thursday, September 23rd at the same time.
