Nashua, NH – Rivier College(9-5, 4-3 GNAC) Pulled away late with a 12-6 spurt to make a 66-63 lead into a 78-69 margain with two minutes to go. Rivier led at the half 39-34 with both teams shooting well over 50% from the field.
Rivier was all but unstoppable from the floor in the half of play, shooting 14 for 20 for 70% and 4 for 5 from the 3-point line. Rivier kept the shooting going throughout the second half as well, going 13 for 21 and draining another five 3-pointers to help clinch the game.
This performance marks the highest shooting percentage of the season for the Raiders, who finished 66% from the floor and 60% from the 3-point line. The Raiders offense was able to move the ball well all game and get open looks on almost every posession.
The Raiders were led by seniors Don Poitras and Nick Bean. Poitras registered 21 points and 8 rebounds while shooting 9-10 from the floor and Bean added 20 points and 3 assists. Junior Will Snider scored 11 points and dished out 9 assists while sophomore Cliff Celestin had 10 points.
Lasell was lead by Javon Williams who had a game high 30 points and a team high 7 rebounds. Williams is now only 6 points away from reaching 1000 in his career. Sean Bertanza scored 23 points for teh Lasers and also had a game high 8 steals.
River will now travel to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Tuesday, January 25th for a 7:00 PM game.
