New Haven, CT - Junior forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT/Career) led a balanced Albertus scoring attack with a game high 26 points and game high 16 rebounds as the Falcons defeated visiting Rivier College 100-82 on Tuesday night.
The #3 Falcons hosted #6 Rivier as the Quarterfinal rounds of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) were played tonight.
Albertus never trailed and led by as much as 26 points as they held a double digit lead the entire second half. The Falcons had five players in double-figures with sophomore guard Arshad Jackson (Hartford, CT/Hartford Public) scoring 18 points. Freshman forward Chris Cagle (New Haven, CT/Hillhouse) had 14 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks on the night. Senior guards Walden St. Juste (Hartford, CT/Bulkeley) and Byron Reaves (Hamden, CT/Hamden) chipped in 13 points and 10 points respectively.
Rivier College was led by sophomore forward Mike Polley (Nashua, NH) who kicked in 18 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Freshman Tom Poitras (Bow, NH/Bow) added 17 points and a team high nine rebounds. Senior Nick Bean (E. Longmeadow, MA) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds while freshman Jake Nelson (Nashua, NH) added 12 points and senior Matt Nims scored 10.
The Falcons improve to 17-9, 14-4 GNAC while Rivier ends the season at 12-14 and 7-11 in GNAC play.
