Rivier Downs Green Mountain 15-8 in Women's Lacrosse

Nashua, NH – Rebecca Wickens (Tyngsboro, MA) and Amanda Atwell (Raymond, NH) each scored 4 goals to help lead Rivier College past non-conference opponent Green Mountain College by a score of 15-8 today in women's lacrosse action. The Raiders outshot the Eagles 40-16, including 32 shots on goal, and picked up 44 ground balls compared to just 25 for the visiting Eagles.

Green Mountain got on the scoreboard first when Johanna Douglas (Essex, CT) scored on a free position shot but the Raiders answered 2 minutes later on a Natalie Bonvie (Salem, NH) free position goal to tie the game. The Raiders scored 3 more times before Green Mountain could add a second goal and Rivier kept the pressure on, going up 8-3 on a Atwell free position shot to lead the teams into the half.

Douglas came out of the half and again scored the first goal on an unassisted play, but it seemed for every one goal Douglas would score, the Raiders would score two. Alyssa Renaud (Goffstown, NH) and Atwell scored less than 1 minute apart to give the Raiders a 10-4 that would never ne surrendered. Green mountain tacked on 4 more goals in the half, but the Raiders would add another 5 goals to ensure the lead.

Along with Atwell's four goals she also had a team high 4 assists while Wickens added 1 assist to her four goals. Bonvie added 3 goals and 1 assist and Renaud added 2 goals in the win. Goal keeper Caleigh Bertolaccini (Chelmsford, MA) made 3 saves on the day.

Douglas scored 5 times for the Eagles to lead all scorers and Amanda Malkin (Highland Lakes, NJ) added 2 goals and an assist in the setback for Green Mountain. Kelsy Allan (Jupiter, FL) took the loss in the net giving up 15 goals and recording 17 saves.

Rivier will travel to Emmanuel College to take on the first year Saints on Wednesday, March 30th at 7:00 PM while Green Mountain will travel to Castleton on March 31st for a 4:00 match-up.
