Nashua, NH - The Daniel Webster College Eagles were able to visit Raider Field and earn a tough fought victory over Rivier College tonight in non-conference Men's Soccer action.
Alex Jackson (Kent, OH) scored a pair of goals as the Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season. Jackson scored his first goal at the 15 minute mark when he headed a cross from Paul Hoy (Merrimack, NH). The second one came off a free kick just outside the 18. Jackson was able to go top self and beat Rivier junior goalkeeper Matthew St. Peter (Colchester, VT).
Despite the two goals allowed, St. Peter held off a very potent Eagle attack. He made 11 saves as Daniel Webster recorded 33 shots (13 of which were on net).
Rivier had it's best chance to score a goal and tie it up inside the 70th minute. Sophomore Shawn Gareau's (Hardwick, MA) shot got past the outstretched DWC senior goalkeeper Joe Keene (Bristol, NH) but went just wide of the net.
The Eagles will return to action on Thursday (9/15) when they host Emerson College. Rivier will be back on Saturday (9/17) with a 3 pm game against GNAC opponent Suffolk University.
