Rivier, Maine-Farmington play to a scoreless tie in 2OT

FARMINGTON, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team played to a scoreless tie with the Rivier College in non-conference action this afternoon.

The Beavers out shot Rivier 21-16, including 16 shots on frame but were unable to find the net after playing 110 minutes.   Both teams saw good scoring opportunities. In the first half UMF sophomore, Lauren Perkins(Cedar Knolls, N.J) redirected a corner kick which appeared to be headed for the goal, but River defender, Jillian Pilotte (Londonderry, NH) headed the ball clear to keep the game scoreless.  In the second half, UMF senior defender, Jen Richter cleared the ball from the goal line after a scramble in front of the net to preserve the tie.

UMF sophomore goalkeeper, Beth Lebel(Lewiston, ME) made 9 saves and Rivier goalkeeper, Christine Surber (Landon, NH) made 16 saves to earn shutouts.

UMF returns to action on Wednesday when it host NAC rival Thomas College.   Rivier will host Simmons on Saturday.
