(Lynn, MA) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team remains red-hot as the routed a rebuilding Fisher College program, 73-40 in front of about 100 people inside the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, Massachusetts.
Sophomore Deanna Purcell (Hudson, NH) paced the Raider offense as she connected on three 3-pointers and was 8-for-11 from the floor on her way to a team high 22 points. All fourteen members of the Women's team got involved in the scoring this evening including freshman Samantha LaRosa (Salem, NH) who contributed 8 points off the bench. Both senior Sarah Howard (West Greenwich, RI) and sophomore Danielle Martin (Haverhill, MA) controlled the boards as they pulled down 8 each.
As a team, the Raiders shot 32.6% compared to Fisher's 12.5% and out-rebounded the Falcons 67-44.
The Falcons were led by senior Porsha Grayson (Merced, CA) who had a game high 26 points and was 11-for-32 from the floor. She also recorded a double-double as she collected 10 rebounds in the loss. Freshman Shakieya Roland-Drake (Hyde Park, MA) had a solid night as she added 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Rivier improves to 6-2 on the season with the win while Fisher drops to 0-7. The Raiders will return to action on Saturday, December 8th as they travel to Connecticut College for a 4pm contest. Fisher will host SUNY-Canton on Sunday, December 9th. Tipoff is scheduled for 12pm.
