(Nashua, NH) Rivier College opened up their 2012 season under their new manager Anthony Perry with two tough losses against Juniata College.
The first game of the season for the Raiders (0-2 Overall) fell 15-0. The game was started by junior Justin Chenevert (Wilmington, MA) who made it into the 5th inning before being take out giving up 8 runs, only 6 earned. Offensively the Raiders were quiet only having 3 hits as a team.
Juniata (2-1 Overall) had sophomore Ryan Morrison(Lebanon, PA) pitched a complete game shutout walking only 1 and giving up 3 hits. Second basemen sophomore Brad Medellin (Lewisberry, PA) went 3 for 4 with a double and 4 rbi.
In the second game the Raiders lost by a score of 9-3 putting up their first run of the season. Freshman Lucas Palma (Bristol, CT) pitched 5 full innings giving up 12 hits 9 runs and only 6 earned. Raiders captain Kevin Weaver (Hudson, NH) went 3 for 4 with two doubles.
The Eagle's second game starter was senior William Hoffman (Phoenix, MD) who tossed 6 innings striking out 5 and giving up 3 earned runs. Sophomore Joe Sforza (Pitttown, NJ) went 2 for 3 and scored 3 runs on the day.
