(Salisbury, MD) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team traveled down south to Maryland to take on #20 Salisbury University and Virginia Wesleyan College in a Saturday non-conference tri-match. The Raiders, now 10-5 on the season, dropped both matches by 3-0 finals.
In the match up with #20 Salisbury, senior Kenna Finlayson (Derry, NH) laced 13 kills as the Raiders fell by scores of 25-8, 25-22 and 25-15 to the Seagulls. Freshman Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, CA) had 25 assists and defensive specialist junior Jessica Amaral (East Providence, RI) recorded 8 digs in the morning match. Freshmen Lyndsey Sweeney (Salem, NH) and Nikki Deluga (Cotuit, MA), along with O'Reilly - each had 5 digs as well.
The second matchup of the day featured the Raiders against the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College. The trio of Finlayson, O'Reilly and Amaral led their respective categories for the team. Finlayson finished the three set match with 12 kills whille O'Reilly contributed with 29 assists and Amaral had 12 digs. Junior Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) registered a .400 hitting percentage as she knocked down 9 kills. Freshman Jackie Pisecco (Chelmsford, MA) had 4 kills and 6 digs in the loss.
Rivier will return to the northeast as they will travel up to Northfield, Vermont on Wednesday night for a GNAC matchup with Norwich University. The next Raider home match will be on Columbus Day (October 8th) when they host Emmanuel College and Emerson College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match.
