(West Hartford, CT) The Rivier University Softball team fell to the University of Saint Joseph in the opening game of the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Final Four Tournament hosted by the Blue Jays. Rivier, the #7 seed, lost 6-2 to the Blue Jays, who are the #3 seed. Rivier will face off against #8 Suffolk tomorrow morning in an elimination game.

Junior Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) helped set the table for the Raiders offense as she went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the game. She knocked in the only two Raider runs with a double to left field in the fifth inning. Freshman Sahara Brown (Barnstead, NH) recorded the other hit for Rivier as she was 1-for-3.

Junior Hillary Tarr (North Easton, MA) tossed five innings inside the circle for the Raiders as she allowed five earned runs on nine hits while striking out six. Freshman Taylor Miller (Haverhill, MA) gave up a run in her only inning of work on the mound.

Tomorrow's elimination game will begin at 10am. #8 Suffolk lost to #4 Saint Joseph's College in the other game played today in West Hartford.
