Men's Basketball drops non-conference contest to Plymouth State

(Concord, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team shot just 12-for-48 as a team in the 81-32 loss to Plymouth State University this evening in the 2014 Boys and Girls Club Classic, hosted by New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord.

The Panthers opened the game with an 18-2 run over the opening 10 minutes and never looked back as they earned their first win of the season.

Rivier (0-2) saw sophomore Andre Ruff (Lowell, Mass.) led the team with 8 points and senior Jake Nelson (Nashua, N.H.) added 7 points.

Plymouth State received a huge game from freshman Brian Boulay (Keene, N.H.) who came off the bench and scored 14 points. Sophomore Curtis Arsenault (Berlin, N.H.) single-handily led the Panther attack in the first half as he knocked down 9-of-11, including 2 three pointers en route to a game high 20 points. Senior Alex Burt (Dover, N.H.) was the other student-athlete to reach double figures with 13 points.

Rivier will host the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the 2014 Rivier University Tip-Off Tournament on Friday evening at 8pm. Plymouth State will travel to Maine for their next scheduled contests as they will compete in the Colby Classic at Colby College. The Panthers will face Endicott College on Friday night at 7pm.
