Field Hockey blanked by Maine-Farmington, 5-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team fell at home this afternoon to the visiting University of Maine-Farmington by a final of 5-0 at Raider Field. The Raiders are now 1-8 overall on the year while UMF improves to 5-3.

Maine-Farmington took an early 1-0 advantage just two minutes into the contest when Chelsea Morley was able to walk in the circle and rifle a shot into the back of the net. The visitors would gather two more tallies from Carly Raymond and Rebecca Young before the halftime horn sounded.

The Beavers then added two more goals over the final 35 minutes as Mara Balboni and Jenessa Talrico earned their way into the scoring summary with goals in the 40th and 63rd minutes, respectively.

Rivier senior goalkeeper Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, Mass.) made 11 saves on the afternoon while the UMF duo of Patricia Smith and Alyssa Arsenault stopped all three Rivier shots on net.

The Raiders will return to action on Wednesday night as they travel to Regis College for a 7:30pm non-conference tilt. UMF will host Colby-Sawyer College in their next scheduled contest on Saturday, October 4th.
