(New Haven, Conn.) The Rivier Men's Basketball team fell to Albertus Magnus College 87-53 in a GNAC matchup. With the loss, the Raiders drop to 3-12 on the year (2-6 GNAC). With the win, the Albertus Magnus College Falcons improve to 14-1 on the year (9-0 GNAC).
The Falcons were too much for the Raiders in this one, outscoring the Raiders 34-25 in the first half, and 53-28 in the second. Senior guard Tavon Sledge (Spring Valley, N.Y.) scored 13 points and tallied 7 assists for the Falcons, while senior forward Victor Ljuljdjurai (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) scored 14 points and secured 14 rebounds.
Albertus Magnus also had a good performance turned in by senior forward Lamar Larsen (Waterbury, Conn.) who scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. For the Raiders, only two players were able to score in double digits. Freshman Andre Ruff (Lowell, Mass.) was able to put in 14 points, while freshman forward David Lorden (Pepperell, Mass.) was able to put in an additional 10 for the Raiders.
This was a tough matchup for the Raiders. Albertus Magnus currently possesses a 49 game home winning streak. This is the longest active winning streak in all of college basketball. Unfortunately for the Raiders, Albertus Magnus used their home court advantage to clinch the victory.
The Rivier Men's Basketball team will host Anna Maria College, Thursday, January 22nd, at 7:00pm in a GNAC showdown. For the Falcons, they will be on the road in their next matchup to play the St. Joseph's College Monks in a GNAC clash. The game is scheduled for Saturday, January 24th, at 2:00pm.
