Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse fall to Emmanuel 17-4

(Boston, Mass.) The Rivier Women's Lacrosse team fell this evening to the Emmanuel College Saints by the score of 17-4 at Clemente Field. With the loss, the Raiders drop their season record to 4-10 (3-6 GNAC). As for the Saints, they improve their season record to 11-3 (6-3 GNAC).

This was an extremely difficult matchup for the Raiders. Emmanuel played the Raiders tough all day long. They were aggressive on offense, and extremely stout on defense. The Raiders, despite their many attempts, were unable to establish themselves on offense, and never got in a rhythm on defense.  As a result, the Saints were able to hand the Raiders a lop-sided defeat.

The Raiders were outscored 11-2 in the first half by the Saints. The game looked to be a good one within the first few minutes. The Saints were able to score first at the 29:26 mark. Less than two minutes later, Jocelyn Park (Londonderry, N.H.) was able to put home an unassisted strike for the Raiders. At that point, the game looked as if it were going to be a rather competitive one. Unfortunately for the Raiders, the Saints had other plans. Using a 4-0 run, the Saints were able to push their lead to 5-1. Savannah Neuwirt (Newbury, N.H.) was able to give the Raiders a much needed man-up goal at the 19:56 mark. The Saints however, would end up scoring the final six goals of the half to take the 11-2 lead heading into the break.

Emmanuel began the second half by scoring the first three goals. One at the 27:08 mark, the second at the 25:49 mark, and the final goal at the 18:26 mark. Rivier responded well with a nice two goal run of their own. A man-up goal by Shae O'Connell (Bridgewater, Mass.) at the 13:33 mark cut the Saint lead to 11. Amanda Wickens (Tyngsboro, Mass.) off of a free position shot, continued her offensive excellence as she was able to score her 35th goal of the season at the 11:53 mark. The Saints, unfortunately, scored the final three goals of the game to seal the 17-4 victory.

For their next contest, the Rivier Women's lacrosse team will host Curry on April 16th at 7:00pm.
