(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Men's Lacrosse team (7 – 4, 2 – 1 GNAC) beat visiting St. Joseph's College, ME (3 – 7, 1 – 3 GNAC) this evening 13 – 10 at Raider Field in a GNAC Men's Lacrosse match-up. Rivier was ahead 5 – 2 after the 1st quarter, but St Joseph's used a 5 – 1 run in the 2nd quarter to take a 7 – 6 halftime lead. Rivier had a 3 – 1 scoring run in the 3rd quarter to reverse the run of play and take a 9 – 8 lead into the 4th. In the final quarter, Rivier pulled away for the 13 – 10 win.
Rivier was led on the day by Liam Ryan (JR, Dorchester, MA), 5 goals, 1 assist, and 6 shots on goal; and Joe Kelland (JR, Watertown, MA), 1 goal, 4 assists, 3 shots on goal, and 1 ground ball. In goal, Matt Cloutman (SO, Peabody, MA) went the distance and had 12 saves on the day.
St Joseph's was paced by Dan Cunningham, 3 goals, 1 assist, 4 shots on goal, and 2 ground balls; and Matt Donnell, 2 goals, 5 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls. The visiting Monks were backstopped by 12 saves from Connor Trainor.
Next up for the Raiders is another GNAC match-up when they travel to Lasell College at 1:00 pm this Saturday, March 15th. St. Joseph's returns to action on March 15th when they host Anna Maria College.
