Women's Volleyball: Raiders earn four-set GNAC win over Colby-Sawyer

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team improved to 15-5 overall and 3-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference this evening as they defeated visiting Colby-Sawyer College, 3-1 inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raider earned the four-set victory by scores of 25-15, 25-16, 22-25 and 25-16.

Rivier was guided by senior Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) who recorded 16 kills, a .429 hitting percentage, 15 digs and three total blocks. Sophomore Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) hammered down 15 kills and a .357 hitting percentage to go along with her eight digs. Sophomore setter Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) dished out 43 assists while also registering three service aces, six digs and four total blocks. Senior Jess Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) swung at a .700 clip on the night with eight-kills in the win while junior Julia Zargaj (Groveland, Mass.) chipped in with six kills and five total blocks.

Sophomore Sam Mohammed (Killingworth, Conn.) was the overall leader for the Chargers as she accumulated the team-high of nine kills and two digs. Senior Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.) added seven kills and two total blocks with sophomore Riley Codman (Dublin, N.H.) providing defensive prowess along the net as she collected three total blocks. Sophomore Anna Allen (Los Angeles, Calif.) handed out 21 helpers and senior Morgan Flynn (Reading, Mass.) led the backline effort for Colby-Sawyer with 13 digs.

Next up for the Raiders will be a pair of tough conference contests as they travel to Newton, Massachusetts for a GNAC tri-match at Lasell University with Norwich University. Game one against the Laser is slated to start at 11:00 am. Colby-Sawyer will also be in tri-match action on Saturday as they travel to Springfield, Massachusetts for a pair of non-conference contests at Western New England University with Westfield State University at 11am.
