Men's Volleyball: Raiders drop the Lasers in 3 sets, 3-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Raiders drop the Lasell College Lasers tonight in 3 sets tonight at the Muldoon Gymnasium.  Tonights win comes after the Raiders upset No. 1 ranked, Springfield College Pride on Tuesday. 

Tonights scores were, 16-25, 17-25, 21-25.

Scott Sterenberg (Oceanside, N.Y.) led the Lasers attack with 7 kills and notched 6 digs.  While Jordan Aprea (Newington, Conn.) led the defense with 14 digs. Conor Leary-Watson (Bethany, Conn.) also contributed 6 kills on the night. 

Junior David Smith (Clinton, Ohio) paced the Raiders offensive attack as he hit .450 with 10 kills. Smith was joined by junior Francis Kokoros (Braintree, Mass.) and senior Dashaun Graham as they both registered 7 kills tonight. Freshman Jack Normandin (Clifton Park, N.Y.) had 4 kills, 7 digs and a block for the Raiders.  Junior setter Pedro Campos (Downey, Cali.) handed over 28 assists to teammates and contributed 2 kills on 3 swings.

February was a stellar month for the Raiders as they finished 9-2 overall and pulled out 3 conference wins.  To boot, three Raiders were recognized as Offensive Players of the Week (Kokoros, Campos, Smith), junior Cam Roth (Coventry, R.I.) earned Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Jack Normandin was dubbed Rookie of the Week on week 4. 

The Raiders will fly out the California for the "Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational" where they will match up against Adrian College (11-5) and St. Fisher College (14-4) on March 8th. The next night they'll face, U.C. Santa Cruz (8-13) and Cal. Lutheran University (4-7). 

The Lasell College Lasers will travel up to Aurora, N.Y. for the Wells College Tournament.  Their first opponents for the event will be Daemen College (3-8) from Amherst, N.Y. at 6PM.
